Appreciate Football As A Global Business And Invest Heavily – Ex-President Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor believes an African team can compete with European giants if they invest heavily in the game and also on quality players.

The former Asante Kotoko board member said football has now become a lucrative sport and also a global business where teams in Europe spend millions to get quality players.

He advised teams especially in Africa to see it as a business opportunity to invest heavily if they want to get to the highest level like their European counterparts.

“If you pack a team that consumers or customers will not patronize you are wasting time”

“If you sell what the people would buy, they would buy”

“We’ve got individually, some world class players”

“Right now, Arsenal are heavily linked with Thomas Partey and they are prepared to pay millions of dollars even presidents of Ghana cannot dream about”

“If we would appreciate football as global business and also skills honed or sharpened through the disciplines like science demands, we may be able to put together a team that will beat Barcelona, Chelsea…”, he added

The Former Ghanaian leader also believes an African country can Win the world cup in the coming years if they assemble talented, quality and world class players that can match their counterparts at the continental showpiece.
