Ampem Darkoa reclaim Women’s Premier League title with late winner

Ampem Darkoa reclaim Women’s Premier League title with late winner

Ampem Darkoa Ladies clinched the Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League title after a 2-1 victory over Hasaacas Ladies on Sunday, dramatically sealing their fifth league crown.

Hasaacas took the lead through Abiba Issah, who opened the scoring in the first half to put the visitors in control at the Swedru Sports Complex.

Ampem Darkoa responded after the break, with Princilla Okyere equalising in the 58th minute to swing momentum back in favour of the hosts.

With the title on the line, it was Gloria Adomako who delivered the decisive moment, scoring in the 86th minute to complete the comeback and spark celebrations.

The triumph marks a strong response from Ampem Darkoa, who lost the title last season to Police Ladies, but have returned with a consistent campaign to reclaim top spot.

Their success also secures a place in the WAFU Zone B qualifiers for the CAF Women’s Champions League. Victory there would see them advance to the main continental tournament next season.
