A 2021 Auditor-General’s report flagged an unauthorized $2 million payment for a project that never materialized.
Former Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF), Prof. Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, was arrested by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) over the $2 million Sky Train scandal but has since been granted bail.
Reacting to the issue in an interview on Plan B FM’s Ebaanosen on Monday, February 24, Mr. Kwadwo Atta Appiah Korang, Director of Save the Nation for Future Generations, emphasized that individuals appointed to government positions must serve the interests of the nation rather than pursue personal gains. He urged Ghanaians to be patient with the NIB as they carry out their investigations.
“They must get to the bottom of this case,” he stated.
He further noted that claims by some opposition members suggesting that the Mahama administration failed to prosecute anyone should serve as a challenge to the current president.
“I believe in the president and am ready to support him for a better Ghana,” he stressed.
