Akufo-Addo’s Unpopular Decisions Will Continue To Haunt Bawumia’s Political Future — Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu

‘Most MoMo Users Poor; Don’t Tax Them’ – Bawumia’s Own Words Come Back To Haunt Him

The United Nations Peace Ambassador to Ghana and Country Director for the International Association of World Peace Advocates, Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu, has warned that several unpopular decisions made by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo could severely undermine Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s political prospects.

According to him, the former Vice President’s chances of leading the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2028 elections have already taken a major hit due to the lingering public discontent over decisions made during Akufo-Addo’s tenure.

Speaking in an interview with the media in Accra, Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu — who also serves as Founder and Head Pastor of Pottersville Church in Accra — voiced strong concerns about the former President’s leadership.

“It’s quite unfortunate that soo many unpopular decisions former President Nana Akuffo Addo, too has already started affecting the chances of Dr. Bawumia. One of such decisions was his refusal to reshuffle his ministers especially the former finance minister,” he stated.

He singled out the controversial E-Levy as one of the most damaging policies, arguing that its implementation had lasting political consequences for Dr. Bawumia.

Ambassador Bishop Dr. Sam Owusu stressed that the backlash from such policies would continue to burden the former Vice President’s political image.

“The decision to force the implementation of the E-Levy on Ghanaians had a huge negative impact on Dr. Bawumia’s chances in 2024,” he noted, adding that “it will still affect the former Vice President because all the bad deeds would be tagged on him.”

He further urged former President Akufo-Addo to publicly apologise to Ghanaians and members of the NPP for what he described as the damaging legacy that contributed to the party’s poor showing in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections.
