President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has appointed Joe Ghartey, the Member of Parliament for Essikado-Ketan, as the new Board Chair of the Ghana Revenue Authority.
This decision was made after a new Board was reconstituted and inaugurated due to the resignation of the former Board Chair, Tony Oteng-Gyasi, and the removal of former GRA Commissioner-General Ammishaddai Owusu-Amoah.
Following these changes, Julie Essiam was appointed as the new GRA Commissioner-General by President Akufo-Addo.
The Ministry of Finance has announced that the newly reconstituted and inaugurated GRA Board will be chaired by Hon. Joe Ghartey.
Other members include Dr. Alex Ampaabeng, Ms. Julie Essiam, Hon. Micheal Okyere Baafi, Mrs Elsie Addo Awadzi, Madam Susan Akomea, Mrs Araba Bosomtwe, and Mr Kwabena Abankwah Yeboah.
The Minister of Finance, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam has instructed the new GRA Board to utilize the ongoing digitalization drive to streamline tax administration and reduce reliance on “human interventions”.
