Afriyie Barnieh Parts Ways with FC Zurich After Underwhelming Two-Goal Spell in 50 Matches

Afriyie Barnieh Parts Ways with FC Zurich After Underwhelming Two-Goal Spell in 50 Matches

Former Accra Hearts of Oak Sporting Club forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh is no longer a player of Swiss League side FC Zurich.

The 24 year old player had his contract with the club terminated earlier on Thursday, July 3 by mutual consent leading to his exit.

Barnieh spent two and a half years with FC Zurich after leaving Ghana Premier League giants Accra Hearts of Oak in a heralded move.

Barnieh secured the move to the European club after starring for the Phobians in the Ghana Premier League that led to a call up to the Ghana Black Stars squad that featured at the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar.

However, his time in the Swiss was largely a forgettable one as he spent time with Zurich’s B Team and ended up scoring two goals and adding four assists in 50 competitive appearances for the first team.

“FC Zurich thanks Daniel Afriyie for his commitment and wishes him all the best for the future” the statement from FC Zurich read.
