The Accra Human Rights Court has revised the bail conditions for former National Signals Bureau (NSB) Director-General Kwabena Adu Boahene, following a motion filed by his legal team.
His bail amount has been lowered from GH¢120 million to GH¢80 million, with two sureties, one of whom must be justified.
However, his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, faces the same GH¢80 million bail, also requiring two justified sureties.
Both individuals are prohibited from traveling without the approval of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), and are required to report to EOCO three times a week.
The couple, arrested on March 20 and 21 for allegedly embezzling GH¢39 million intended for cybersecurity infrastructure, have been in EOCO custody since.
Their lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, successfully argued for a reduction in the bail conditions during the court session on March 28.
Despite this, Deputy Attorney-General Justice Srem Sai expressed concerns about the couple being flight risks, pointing to an ongoing investigation into their potential possession of foreign passports in addition to their Ghanaian ones.
