Asamankese: Police Rescue Couple From Lynching Over ‘Alleged’ Murder

As published by theghanareport earlier today, a tragic incident unfolded in Nima, a suburb of Accra, as a young boy lost his life following an alleged violent attack by his stepmother.

The horrific act, believed to have been triggered by the child eating dinner without permission, has left the community in shock and mourning.

Eyewitnesses recount that the incident occurred around 10:30 p.m. when the household was winding down for the night.

The seven-year-old boy, whose name has been withheld for legal and family reasons, had reportedly eaten a meal reserved for his stepmother without seeking her approval.

This act allegedly sparked her fury, leading to a series of assaults that tragically ended the child’s life.

Neighbors reported hearing loud cries from the house that night but assumed it was a typical domestic quarrel.

“We didn’t think much of it until the screaming stopped abruptly,” said a neighbor, Kwame Mensah. “The next thing we knew, the child had been rushed to the hospital, but it was too late.”

According to medical reports from the Nima Polyclinic, the boy succumbed to injuries consistent with severe physical abuse. Sources at the clinic revealed that his body bore multiple bruises and signs of prolonged mistreatment.

The Nima District Police Command has arrested the stepmother, who is now in custody assisting with investigations. Preliminary findings indicate a history of domestic tension between the suspect and the victim.

Residents described the stepmother as a strict disciplinarian who often clashed with the boy over minor issues.

Community leaders and child rights advocates have condemned the incident, calling for swift justice.

“This is a heartbreaking reminder of the vulnerabilities children face in homes where they are meant to feel safe,” said Adjoa Boatemaa, a child welfare advocate. “No child should lose their life over food or any other trivial matter.”

The body of the deceased was later transferred to the Police Hospital in Accra for autopsy and further investigations.

The boy’s biological father, who was reportedly not at home during the incident, is said to be cooperating with the police. Speaking briefly to reporters, he expressed his devastation and disbelief.
