Accident in Kumasi Leaves 1 Trapped

One Feared Dead, Driver In Critical Condition In Gomoa Dabenyin Accident

One passenger in the Mercedes Sprinter which was mangled in the accident got trapped. It took the intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to free the victim whose identity is not readily available.

One person got trapped in a multi-vehicle accident around the Airport Roundabout in Kumasi in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, May 29, 2024.

The victim was in one of six vehicles that collided near Water Works in Kumasi around 2 pm.

The vehicles included a Cargo truck with registration number BF 3260 E6-03, a Long truck with registration number AS 3568-12, an Opel Astra with registration number AS 4009-1, a Pregio with registration number AS 6966-22 and a Mercedes Sprinter with registration number AS 4133-23.

One passenger in the Mercedes Sprinter which was mangled in the accident got trapped. It took the intervention of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) to free the victim whose identity is not readily available.

A statement by the GNFS said the person was immediately conveyed to a medical facility for medical attention.

“Demonstrating remarkable courage and determination, the firefighters successfully extricated the trapped passenger from the severely damaged Mercedes Sprinter. The victim was promptly transported to the hospital for urgent medical care.”

It added, “The swift response and effective coordination by the rescue team and Ambulance Service were instrumental in ensuring the victim’s safety and well-being.”

No further casualty was reported.
