The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketia, has urged voters to accept any money or goods offered to them by the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) seeking to buy their votes stating that it is “stolen money being returned.”
Addressing voters at the Adombrobe community in Akuapem South on Monday to kick off a five-day campaign tour of the Eastern Region, Asiedu Nketia accused the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) of hoarding large sums of stolen money in their homes, claiming they are unable to deposit the funds in banks or transfer them abroad for fear of being busted.
He alleged that the NPP would distribute this money in a bid to secure votes in the upcoming elections but urged voters to collect and still vote against them.
“They have hoarded lots of stolen monies in their houses because when they send it to the bank or attempt to take it outside they will be exposed so they are hoarding them in their homes. They will come to share the looted monies in an attempt to buy your votes to retain power”, Mr. Nketia stated.
He continued: “collect and chop any money they bring to you it is your own monies they have stolen so either it comes in cash or kind be it cloth, Maggie cube, chicken collect with the mindset that it is your own stolen money the thief has returned part of it to invoke curse to do his wish. The deity that you invoke will rather kill the person while you walk free”.
He said the NPP can only be held accountable for the high level of corruption when there is a change of government.
Asiedu Nketia also addresses the poor state of roads in the community, blaming the current government for halting construction projects that the NDC had initiated in 2016.
He assured residents that the NDC if elected, would resume work on these roads and address other pressing needs in the community.
He further called on the residents of Akuapem South to vote for the NDC’s Parliamentary candidate, Lawrence Adwoa Djiwornu, in the upcoming elections, stressing the need to break the NPP’s long-standing dominance in the constituency.
Residents of Adombrobe accused the ruling NPP government of neglecting the community citing the failure of the government to construct their roads and address other social needs.
They assured the NDC of massive votes in the December 7 election.
