Africa World Airlines (AWA) has dismissed reports circulating on social media that one of its aircraft developed a technical problem at the Kumasi Airport, resulting in the evacuation of passengers.
In a press statement issued on Saturday, November 7, 2026, the airline described the reports as false, insisting that no such incident had occurred.
AWA explained that the aircraft in question, an Embraer E190, commenced demonstration flights on November 5, 2026, as part of regulatory requirements by the Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) before it can begin scheduled commercial operations.
The airline clarified that only flight crew and GCAA inspectors were on board during the demonstration flights, with no passengers present and, consequently, no passenger evacuation.
It further explained that demonstration flights are a standard procedure for introducing a new aircraft type into service and are conducted under the supervision of the GCAA to verify operational readiness and safety.
AWA has urged the public and media organisations to disregard the circulating graphic and rely on its official communication channels for accurate information about its operations.
The airline also warned that it reserves the right to take appropriate action against individuals who knowingly disseminate false information.
