The Eastern Regional Police Command has arrested a 57-year-old man, identified as Nsiah Samuel, in connection with a series of shoplifting incidents captured in a viral TikTok video.

The suspect, described as a self-acclaimed chief and minister of the gospel, was arrested on November 5, 2026, at Akrade in the Eastern Region by the Somanya District Police Command.

The arrest followed intelligence gathered in collaboration with the Borteyman Police in Accra.

According to the police, the suspect admitted during interrogation to stealing consumable items, electronics, clothing and other goods from retail outlets in several locations, including Kibi, Suhum, Ashaiman, Accra Central, Koforidua, Tema, Akosombo and Adenta.

He has since been handed over to the Borteyman Police for further investigations.

The Eastern Regional Police Command has commended members of the public whose vigilance and sharing of information on social media contributed to the suspect’s arrest.

In a press release dated November 7, 2026, and signed by Chief Inspector Bridget Opoku of the Public Affairs Unit, the police urged the public to continue supporting efforts to combat crime through timely information sharing.
