Elmina Sharks FC has pledged to continue paying goalkeeper William John Donkoh’s salary for the two-year duration of his contract following the amputation of his left leg after a motor accident in Cape Coast.

The club’s Public Relations Officer, Kingsley Smith Arthur, gave the assurance, reaffirming the club’s commitment to supporting the goalkeeper through his recovery and beyond.

“We will commit to paying William’s salary for the two-year duration of his contract,” he said.

The assurance follows an official statement issued by Elmina Sharks FC on Thursday, October 22, 2026, confirming that Donkoh had sustained severe injuries to his left leg in a motor accident on Tuesday, October 20.

According to the club, the goalkeeper underwent surgery on Wednesday night, October 21, but his left leg had to be amputated despite efforts by the medical team.
