GES Mourns Four Pupils Killed in Aboabo Junction Accident

The Ghana Education Service (GES) has extended its condolences to the families of four pupils who died in a road accident at Aboabo Extension Junction in the Asokore Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region.

In a press release dated October 22, 2026, with reference number GES/HQ/PR/26/161, the GES said the accident occurred on Tuesday, October 20, and claimed the lives of four pupils, while three others sustained injuries.

The deceased have been identified as Juraid Mohammed, Anisah Ibrahim, Fati Muniru and Raiyan Faisal, all pupils of Mahad Islamic School at Akotosu.

The Service described the incident as a painful loss to the bereaved families, the school community, the education sector and the nation as a whole.

Management extended its heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, as well as the management, staff and pupils of Mahad Islamic School, during this difficult period of mourning.

The GES also expressed concern for the three injured pupils and wished them a speedy and full recovery.

The Service has urged motorists and other road users to prioritise the safety of schoolchildren, emphasising the need to protect vulnerable pupils on the roads.

The statement was signed by Daniel Fenyi, Head of Public Relations at the Ghana Education Service.
