The death of a parent at an early age can disrupt a child’s ambitions and future career prospects, particularly when proper care and guidance are lacking, Pastor Sidio Gido of African Redemption Church has cautioned.
Speaking on Nyansapo Fie, Plan B FM’s family, relationship and lifestyle programme hosted by Akosua Gyamfua. The guest, Pastor Gido explained that many children develop dreams and career aspirations through the influence of their parents, hoping to follow in their footsteps or fulfil their expectations.
He noted that losing a parent can change these plans and cause children to lose focus, especially when they do not receive adequate support and direction.
He added that the impact of parental loss can be either positive or negative, depending on the resources available to the child, the guidance they receive and the people they associate with. According to him, the person responsible for caring for a child after such a loss plays a significant role in helping them remain focused on their goals.
Pastor Gido urged individuals who experience early parental loss to remain focused on God despite the challenges they may face. He emphasized the importance of proper guidance and positive influences in helping children overcome difficulties and pursue their future aspirations.
