The Ghana Police Service is investigating the death of a 33-year-old man, Enoch Abrokwa, who was allegedly stabbed by his 19-year-old girlfriend, Emmanuella Asante, following a misunderstanding at Ofankor Barrier in Accra.
According to a press release issued by the Accra Regional Police Command on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, preliminary investigations indicate that the incident occurred on Friday, October 9, at the deceased’s business premises, where a disagreement between the two allegedly escalated into violence.
The police said the suspect allegedly stabbed Abrokwa in the chest with a piece of broken glass during the confrontation.
He was initially rushed to a hospital at Taifa-Burkina before being referred to the Ridge Hospital for further treatment. He subsequently underwent surgery for a deep wound that affected his intestines but died on October 14 while receiving treatment.
The statement, signed by the Head of Public Affairs for the Accra Region, Chief Superintendent Juliana Obeng, indicated that Asante was arrested on October 10 following a complaint lodged by the deceased and three other persons.
The suspect reportedly admitted to stabbing Abrokwa and remains in police custody as investigations continue.
She has since been put before the court and remanded into police custody. She is expected to reappear on November 3, 2026.
The Accra Regional Police Command has urged the public to resolve disagreements peacefully and refrain from violence.
It also called on the public to cooperate with the police as investigations continue and appropriate legal action is pursued.
