The University of Ghana has postponed the reopening of the 2026/2027 academic year, which was scheduled for Monday, October 12, 2026.
In a notice dated Saturday, October 10, 2026, the university’s management informed students that the reopening had been postponed, adding that a revised date would be announced in due course.
The notice, issued through the Office of the Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, expressed regret over any inconvenience the postponement may cause and appealed to students for patience and understanding as arrangements are made for the reopening.
Meanwhile, students have been urged to complete their online academic registration in accordance with the procedure outlined in an earlier communication.
Management said completing the registration would help students secure their places in classes and ensure their eligibility to participate in an upcoming random bed allocation exercise.
The university did not provide a new reopening date in the notice.
The announcement was signed by Professor Gordon A. Awandare, Pro Vice-Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs.
