NPP orders parliamentary aspirants to halt campaign activities immediately

Justin Kodua Flaws John Boadu To Become NPP’s New General Secretary

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has directed all prospective parliamentary aspirants to immediately cease campaign activities, warning that offenders could face disciplinary action that may affect their eligibility to contest.

In a statement dated Sunday, October 11, 2026, and signed by General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said it had received numerous complaints that some members aspiring to become parliamentary candidates had begun campaigning in various constituencies.

The party described the activities as contrary to its regulations and Code of Conduct, warning that such conduct creates an uneven playing field and undermines party unity and discipline.

The directive requires all prospective parliamentary aspirants, their agents and supporters to stop every form of campaign activity with immediate effect.

Prohibited activities include mounting posters, billboards, banners and other branded materials; organising rallies, meetings with polling station executives or tours to solicit support; distributing items or other inducements to delegates and party members; and running paid media or social media advertisements promoting a candidature.

The party has also warned its officers at the polling station, electoral area, constituency, regional and national levels, including the TESCON leadership, against promoting prospective parliamentary aspirants on social media platforms such as Facebook, X and Instagram or facilitating what it describes as premature campaigning.

According to the statement, anyone who fails to comply will be dealt with under the party’s disciplinary procedures, which could affect their eligibility to contest in the parliamentary selection process.

The NPP said it would announce the timetable and guidelines for its parliamentary processes in due course.

It has consequently tasked constituency and regional executives with ensuring strict compliance with the directive within their respective jurisdictions, while urging all party members to cooperate.
