The Ghana Football Association (GFA) will appoint an interim technical team to manage the Black Stars during the November international window as the search for a substantive head coach continues.
The interim team will oversee preparations for the November fixtures, maintain continuity in the national team programme, support player monitoring and engagement, and ensure a smooth transition when a permanent head coach is appointed.
The arrangement is intended to allow the Black Stars Coach Search Committee to conduct a thorough recruitment process without compromising the team’s immediate competitive responsibilities.
The GFA, in consultation with the Ministry of Sports and Recreation and the Coach Search Committee, has extended the deadline for applications for the vacant head coach position to October 15, 2026.
The committee is expected to continue evaluating, interviewing and shortlisting candidates throughout October and November before submitting its final recommendation.
The GFA has reiterated its commitment to a transparent, professional and merit-based recruitment process, with the broader objective of strengthening the structures and culture needed to achieve sustained success for Ghana football.
It has also appealed to Black Stars supporters, former players, football stakeholders and the media to exercise patience and offer constructive support throughout the process.
The coaching search comes amid calls for a new direction for the Black Stars following recent disappointing performances, with expectations high for the appointment of a coach capable of restoring the team’s competitiveness and building a foundation for long-term success.
