Social Critic, Sir Richard has called on political leaders and delegates to promote discipline in party elections, enforce electoral rules and prioritise Ghana’s development over personal and political interests.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBAANOSEN show, hosted by Ohene Kinnah, Sir Richard stressed the need for politicians to demonstrate genuine leadership by focusing on policies and solutions that would improve the lives of Ghanaians.
He expressed concern about the use of money and transportation benefits to influence delegates during internal party elections, arguing that such practices undermine confidence in the electoral process. He urged delegates to assess aspirants based on their competence, vision and ability to deliver rather than the financial benefits they offer.
Sir Richard further called on political leaders to ensure that electoral rules are properly enforced. He cautioned against the use of political tricks and other questionable practices to secure victory, insisting that leaders must respect established procedures and demonstrate fairness throughout the electoral process.
He also linked the need for responsible political leadership to the persistent unemployment challenges facing the country. According to him, politicians must move beyond campaign promises and focus on practical policies capable of creating jobs and improving the country’s economic conditions.
He urged party delegates to make informed decisions by carefully examining the policies and leadership qualities of candidates before voting. He maintained that Ghana’s progress depends on electing leaders who are committed to serving the public interest rather than using money and personal influence to gain political power.
Sir Richard concluded by appealing to political leaders and delegates to put the nation’s interests first, uphold electoral discipline and support leaders with credible plans for addressing Ghana’s development challenges.
