The Tema West Nasara Organizer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Alhassan Mahamadu, has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government over what he describes as its failure to deliver on key campaign promises made to Ghanaians.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s EBAANOSEN hosted by Ohene Kinnah, Alhassan Mahamadu questioned the number of presidential staffers and their roles, arguing that some appointments appear to duplicate the responsibilities of deputy ministers and other government officials. He cited the appointment of presidential staffers in areas such as agribusiness as an example of what he considers unnecessary duplication within government.
Alhassan Mahamadu also questioned the NDC’s claims of integrity and good governance, arguing that the party should focus on addressing concerns within its own administration rather than concentrating solely on the shortcomings of the NPP. He maintained that political leaders must be held accountable for their conduct and the promises they make to the electorate.
He further criticised the government over campaign promises relating to employment, the proposed Women’s Bank and other social interventions. According to him, almost two years into the administration, the government has yet to demonstrate significant progress on some of the major promises made to Ghanaians during the election campaign.
The Tema West Nasara Organizer also challenged the government to focus on policies that would benefit ordinary Ghanaians and households, rather than engaging in political comparisons and attacks. He said the NDC should use its time in government to deliver tangible results and fulfil the commitments made to the Ghanaian people.
