The Parliamentary Service has clarified that a notice displayed on its notice board stating “No Vacancy for National Service Personnel 2026/2027. Kindly go for reposting” was an administrative message and did not represent a freeze on national service placements.

According to Parliament, the notice had been misconstrued on social media, leading to public commentary suggesting that the institution had stopped accepting National Service personnel.

In a statement issued on Monday, October 5, 2026, the Parliamentary Service explained that the notice was intended for prospective national service personnel who had reported to Parliament.

It said Parliament had received more personnel than it could accommodate for the 2026/2027 national service year and therefore advised those affected to seek reposting to other institutions.

The Parliamentary Service stressed that the notice was neither a policy statement nor an indication of any change in its support for the National Service Scheme.

“Parliament remains committed to the National Service Scheme and values the contribution of service personnel to its work,” the statement said.

It also expressed regret for any confusion or inconvenience caused by the wording of the original notice.

The clarification was signed by David Sebastian Damoah, Director of Media Relations of the Parliamentary Service.
