The Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) says Nana Agyei Baffour Awuah, Senior Partner of Sarkodie, Baffour Awuah and Partners, has voluntarily surrendered himself to the Office to assist with ongoing investigations.
According to EOCO, Nana Baffour Awuah reported to its premises at about 10 a.m. today, following several months of efforts by the Office to secure his attendance before investigators.
The investigations concern allegations relating to criminal conspiracy, financial loss to SIC Savings and Loans, money laundering, tax-related offences and other matters.
EOCO said following his appearance, it commenced the applicable investigative and operational procedures, after which Nana Baffour Awuah was placed under arrest.
The Office added that he is currently cooperating with investigators as the process continues.
EOCO assured the public that the investigations would be conducted professionally, independently and in accordance with due process.
It said investigators would pursue all relevant lines of inquiry, examine available evidence and ensure that all persons involved are afforded their rights under the Constitution and applicable laws.
The Office has also urged the public to allow the investigative and judicial processes to proceed without speculation or premature conclusions about the culpability of any individual.
EOCO said it would provide further information when appropriate and legally permissible.
