Former Black Stars player Mohammed Polo says there should be a clear explanation for Carlos Queiroz’s departure from the national team following the team’s disappointing run of results.
Polo’s comments come after the Ghana Football Association parted ways with Queiroz following the Black Stars’ 4–2 defeat to The Gambia in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
The 1978 Africa Cup of Nations winner believes the Black Stars’ recent performances, including their showing at the World Cup and subsequent results, require serious reflection from the football authorities.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Pae Mu Ka Sports with Okocha, Polo said the circumstances surrounding Queiroz’s exit should be properly explained, arguing that there must be a reason for the decision.
Polo also described the Kurt Okraku-led administration as the best Ghana Football Association administration the country has had, but questioned the results recorded on the field since Kurt Okraku assumed office.
According to him, despite the administration’s achievements, the performance of the Black Stars has not reflected the expectations of Ghanaian football supporters.
The former Black Stars player also raised the possibility of spiritual factors contributing to the national team’s poor performances and recent run of results.
Polo further expressed concern about the treatment of former Black Stars players, claiming that some former players are unhappy with how they have been treated after sacrificing for the country.
He said some of the former players are currently going through difficult circumstances, feeling neglected and without adequate support despite their contributions to Ghanaian football.
Polo also accused the Kurt Okraku administration of benefiting its executives at the expense of Ghanaian football.
He alleged that several executives associated with the administration have become wealthy while Ghana football continues to struggle.
His comments come amid renewed debate over the future of the Black Stars and the broader administration of Ghana football following the team’s recent disappointing results.
