Chief Inspector Acheampongmaa Evelyn has warned motorists to strictly observe road traffic regulations as the Traffic Tech System moves to monitor a range of offences on Ghana’s roads.
Speaking on Nyansapɔ Fie on Plan B FM, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Chief Inspector Evelyn said the system will be used to monitor offences including overspeeding on highways and around schools, wrongful overtaking, failure to wear seat belts, using mobile phones while driving, improper parking and running red lights.
She cautioned motorists against treating traffic light violations as minor offences, stressing that running a red light can put the lives of other road users at risk.
According to Chief Inspector Evelyn, motorists must take greater responsibility for their actions on the road and comply with traffic regulations to help reduce road crashes and other road-related offences.
She urged drivers to exercise caution and adopt responsible driving habits as technology is increasingly being used to strengthen traffic monitoring and enforcement.
Chief Inspector Evelyn said motorists who obey traffic regulations will contribute significantly to creating safer roads for drivers, passengers, pedestrians and other road users.
