Black Stars head coach Carlos Queiroz has highlighted the age profile of Ghana’s squad, pointing to captain Jordan Ayew’s continued presence as an example of the experience within the team.
Speaking to journalists at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, September 21, 2026, ahead of Ghana’s upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against Côte d’Ivoire and The Gambia, Queiroz said assessing the ages of the players around Ayew provides a starting point for understanding the team’s development.
“Jordan Ayew is still in the team, but around him, just check the ages of the players. It’s a starting point.”
The Portuguese coach’s comments come as he prepares to lead the Black Stars into two important qualifying fixtures.
Queiroz is expected to rely on a blend of experienced players and younger talents as Ghana continues its preparations for the upcoming AFCON qualifying campaign.
