The Tema Regional Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, Bright Atsu Kudiabor, for allegedly impersonating a soldier and extorting money from unsuspecting persons in Ashaiman.

According to the Police, the suspect, who is an ex-convict, was arrested by personnel of the Ashaiman Police on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, at about 7:00 a.m.

The Police said Kudiabor was allegedly found at an area known as “I Shall Return”, where he was reportedly parading himself as a soldier and extorting money from members of the public.

The suspect was initially apprehended by personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service in Ashaiman, with assistance from other individuals, before being handed over to the Police.

A search conducted on him allegedly led to the recovery of a set of military camouflage uniform.

The suspect is currently in Police custody and is assisting with investigations.

The Tema Regional Police Command said Kudiabor will be processed for court after investigations have been completed.

The Command has also cautioned the public to remain vigilant and report individuals who falsely present themselves as soldiers or members of other security agencies for the purpose of deceiving or extorting money from the public.

The Police urged members of the public to promptly report such individuals to the appropriate security agencies.
