The Pilgrims Affairs Office of Ghana, PAOG, has announced the immediate closure of payments for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage.
According to the Office, the decision is aimed at preventing oversubscription and ensuring that the number of confirmed pilgrims remains within Ghana’s approved quota for the pilgrimage.
PAOG says managing the number of pilgrims within the approved quota is critical to ensuring a smooth, safe and well-coordinated Hajj operation, including the successful airlifting of all paid pilgrims to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The Office explained that oversubscription has historically contributed to administrative backlogs and operational challenges during Hajj operations, hence the decision to close payments at this stage.
Prospective pilgrims who were unable to complete their payments before the closure have been advised to wait for subsequent Hajj arrangements.
PAOG has also cautioned the public against individuals who claim they can secure opportunities for people to participate in the 2027 Hajj despite the closure of payments.
