At least 13 people are feared dead, with 18 others injured, following a violent collision involving a Toyota Hiace and a Ford Transit at MotherKope near God’s Love Herbal Clinic.

The accident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday, September 2, 2026, involving a Toyota Hiace with registration GX 3186-20, travelling from Accra towards Aflao, and a Ford Transit, GW 5558-23, travelling in the opposite direction from Aflao to Accra.
According to the Sege Fire Extrication Team, which responded to the incident, the accident occurred while the Ford Transit was ascending a hill and the Toyota Hiace was descending.
The head of the Ford Transit reportedly ran into the side of the Toyota Hiace, leaving the front and door of the Hiace severely mangled, while the Ford Transit was also extensively damaged.
The driver of the Toyota Hiace was among the injured.
Firefighters who arrived at the scene at 6:06 a.m., eight minutes after receiving the distress call, worked to clear the wreckage and debris from the road. They also washed away spilled blood and helped restore traffic flow.
All 18 injured persons were transported to the Sege Polyclinic for medical attention, with some subsequently referred to the Ada East District Hospital at FaithKope for further treatment.
The Fire Extrication Team returned to the station at 7:47 a.m.
The circumstances surrounding the reported deaths and the identities of the victims are yet to be officially confirmed.
