The Ghana Education Service (GES) has directed all Heads of Junior High Schools (JHSs) to complete the capture and uploading of candidates’ school selection data for the 2026 school placement exercise within the stipulated period.
According to a notice issued by the GES on Monday, August 24, 2026, the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) portal for capturing and uploading candidates’ school choices will be available from August 24 to August 27, 2026.
The directive follows an earlier communication from the GES dated August 18, 2026, concerning the activation of the WAEC portal for the 2026 placement exercise.
The Service said Headteachers who have not yet completed the uploading of candidates’ school choices on the CSSPS portal for pre-testing must do so by the close of work on Monday, August 24, before proceeding to capture and upload the data onto the WAEC portal.
GES explained that the WAEC portal allows the same school identification number and password to be used simultaneously on multiple computers.
This, according to the Service, will enable schools with large numbers of candidates to work on the exercise concurrently and facilitate the timely and efficient completion of the process.
Metro, Municipal and District Directors of Education, together with Examination Coordinators, have been directed to closely supervise and monitor the exercise to ensure that the data of all eligible candidates are properly captured, verified and submitted within the stipulated period.
Regional Directors of Education have also been tasked with communicating the directive to all relevant schools within their jurisdictions and ensuring strict compliance.
The GES has therefore urged all schools concerned to adhere to the timelines to avoid delays or challenges in the 2026 school placement process.
