Staff of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) are reportedly demanding the removal of the Authority’s Director-General Alhaji Mohammed Abdul-Salam, as they embark on industrial action, disrupting operations at the agency’s headquarters in Accra.
The action has reportedly triggered a heightened security presence at the NLA premises, with police deployed as tensions rose among workers.
Asaase News has learnt that the protesters are demanding the removal of the NLA boss, alongside concerns over their conditions of service, operational difficulties and the Authority’s revenue performance.
Footage obtained by Asaase News shows a heavy police presence at the NLA headquarters as workers gather amid the reported industrial action.
Brennan Hall, where the NLA conducts its lottery draw operations, has also reportedly been locked, preventing scheduled draw activities from taking place.
