Alhaji Grusah: GFA Congress was bogus, failed to address Division One and Juvenile football

Alhaji Grusah: GFA Congress was bogus, failed to address Division One and Juvenile football

Veteran football administrator and bankroller of Division One side King Faisal, Alhaji Karim Grusah, has described the Ghana Football Association’s 32nd Ordinary Congress as “bogus,” arguing that critical aspects of Ghana football were overlooked during the meeting.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) held its 32nd Ordinary Congress on Thursday, August 20, 2026, at the Ghanaman Soccer Centre of Excellence in Prampram, with 124 delegates in attendance.

The Congress considered a number of issues, including governance matters, stadium venues, budgets for the upcoming season and financial support packages for clubs.

However, speaking on Plan B FM’s Kawadwen Sports on Friday, August 21, 2026, with host Dan K. Pobi Okocha, Alhaji Grusah expressed strong reservations about the proceedings, insisting that the Congress failed to adequately address key areas of Ghana’s football development.

According to him, there was no meaningful discussion about Division One football or juvenile football, despite their importance to the development of the game and the production of future talents.

“The Congress was bogus. There was no mention of Division One football and there was no mention of juvenile football. These are very important areas of Ghana football, but they were not properly addressed,” Alhaji Grusah said.

The veteran administrator also questioned the credentials and contribution of some delegates who attended the Congress and took decisions on behalf of Ghana football.

He alleged that some individuals who participated in the decision-making process do not currently have clubs, raising concerns about how effectively they can represent the interests of clubs and stakeholders within the football ecosystem.

“Some of the people who went there to take decisions on behalf of Ghana football do not deserve to be there. Some of them do not even have clubs, yet they went there to take decisions for Ghana football,” he added.

Alhaji Grusah’s comments highlight concerns over representation and the need for broader discussions on the development of football beyond the top-flight level, particularly Division One and juvenile football, which serve as important pathways for player development in Ghana.
