The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the Ghana Association of University Administrators (GAUA) has announced the temporary suspension of its ongoing strike, effective Wednesday, August 19, 2026.

The Association said the suspension will remain in effect until after a scheduled meeting with the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC) on Tuesday, August 25, 2026.

According to the NEC, the decision is intended to allow further engagements with the FWSC, the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) and the Minister for Education to address the concerns that led to the industrial action.

In a notice to members, GAUA directed all members to temporarily suspend the strike and resume work.

Members have also been asked to remain on standby for further communication from the NEC following the August 25 meeting.

The NEC expressed appreciation to members for their solidarity, commitment and cooperation throughout the strike and urged them to continue supporting the Association as negotiations progress.

The outcome of the August 25 meeting is expected to determine the Association’s next course of action.
