Former Energy Minister and aspiring National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Boakye Agyarko, has assured party supporters that the NPP will rise again and return to power in the 2028 general elections under his leadership.
Mr Agyarko made the pledge after a group of NPP constituency chairpersons picked, paid for and presented nomination forms to him to contest the party’s National Chairperson position.
Addressing the media after receiving the forms, Mr Agyarko expressed appreciation to the constituency chairpersons and other supporters for the confidence they had reposed in his leadership.
He said the growing support for his bid was encouraging and demonstrated the commitment of party members to rebuilding the NPP and positioning it for victory in 2028.
“I would like to express my heartfelt appreciation to Constituency Chairmen who purchased and picked this form for me and those who accompanied them. I’m truly humbled by this gesture. Chairmen, I’m truly grateful,” he said.
“To the rest of the NPP fraternity, let me assure you that this party shall rise again. This party may have gone down, but we’re not out. With dedication and commitment…we will rise again,” he added.
Mr Agyarko said his priority, if elected National Chairman, would be to rebuild and rebrand the party into a strong electoral organisation capable of supporting its flagbearer to win the 2028 elections.
“My task as a chairman is to lead in the rebuilding and rebranding of the party into a solid electoral machine upon which our flagbearer, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, will stand firmly and win the 2028 election with ease,” he said.
The group of constituency chairpersons was led by former Ayawaso West Wuogon Member of Parliament, Lydia Seyram Alhassan, to pick up Mr Agyarko’s nomination forms for the National Chairperson position.
Mr Agyarko is among several NPP members seeking to lead the party as it prepares for its next national elections and the 2028 general elections.
