Ga South: Car dealer shot dead at residence near Tuba

A car dealer has been shot dead at his residence at Beach Drive Estate near Tuba in the Ga South Municipality of the Greater Accra Region.

The deceased, Kwasi Rahman, who celebrated his 50th birthday in July 2026, was reportedly returning home from an evening walk with his wife when an unknown assailant opened fire on them at the entrance to their residence.

The incident, which occurred at about 9:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 6, resulted in the immediate death of Mr Rahman and has left residents in the area shaken.

A resident who spoke to Citi News said the gunshot was heard shortly before 10 p.m., prompting residents to rush outside to find Mr Rahman lying in front of his gate.

“I was outside around 9:50 when I heard what sounded like a gunshot. So I quickly went inside and told my mum that I had heard gunshots. When we came out, we saw people coming from down there. When I came out, I saw him lying in front of his gate. I didn’t see anybody and I didn’t hear any noise. It was just the gunshot I heard,” the resident added.

The incident has heightened security concerns among residents, particularly over what they describe as inadequate security arrangements within the estate.

A relative of the deceased who spoke to Citi News on Friday, August 7, called on the police to conduct a thorough investigation to identify the perpetrator and bring them to justice.

“If the person who killed him is caught, they are supposed to be sentenced and even put in jail because he has to feel the pain of what he caused,” she said.

She also raised concerns about the security situation at the estate, alleging that security personnel stationed at the checkpoints were not providing adequate protection to residents.

“The security is not tight. The security here is not tight, and any person they employ at the security checkpoint, most of them are drunkards. This is not the first time. Recently, they shot a certain boy in front of this gate, at the entrance. So the security here is not tight,” she said.

She further expressed concern that the attack occurred relatively early in the evening, despite the estate generally being quiet.
