The Ministry of Education has strongly condemned the violent incident that occurred at Obuasi Senior High Technical School, describing the act as criminal, reprehensible and unacceptable in Ghana’s educational institutions.
In a statement issued on August 5, 2026, the Ministry said violence and lawlessness have no place in the country’s schools and stressed that such conduct will not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The Ministry announced that the Minister for Education, Haruna Iddrisu, has directed the Ghana Education Service (GES) to immediately investigate the incident, establish the facts surrounding the disturbance and impose appropriate disciplinary sanctions on all persons found culpable in accordance with the laws and regulations governing the education sector.
It reaffirmed that discipline remains the cornerstone of quality education and assured the public of its commitment to working closely with the Ghana Education Service and other relevant state institutions to safeguard school leaders, students and staff while ensuring that schools remain safe environments for teaching and learning.
