The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has cautioned the public against patronising 20 digital loan applications operating in the country without the required licence or regulatory approval.
In a public notice dated August 3, 2026, the Central Bank said it had observed the continued operation of entities offering digital loans through online platforms without authorisation, in breach of the Directive for Digital Credit Service Providers in Ghana (September 2025) and other applicable laws.
According to the BoG, the unlicensed loan applications include Adamfo Loan, Agyapacredit, Amanfi Loan, Arco Cash, Aya Lend, Bucks Now, CediGo, CGrab, DumboCash, FCash, GH Loans, GH Loans Pro, Hasty Credit, Newgry Money Tree, Omanpesa, PoPoCedi, Ready Money, Sika Tap, Sikapa Loan, and Zigwe Loan.
The Central Bank warned that the operations of these digital credit providers pose significant risks to customer data privacy, consumer protection and established regulatory standards.
BoG assured the public that it will continue collaborating with relevant state institutions to identify, investigate and take appropriate enforcement action against unlicensed digital lenders in order to safeguard consumers and preserve the integrity and stability of Ghana’s financial sector.
The Bank further advised members of the public to avoid engaging with unlicensed loan providers. It also cautioned banks, specialised deposit-taking institutions (SDIs) and payment service providers (PSPs) against facilitating or processing transactions on behalf of such entities.
The Central Bank encouraged anyone with information on the activities of unlicensed digital loan providers to report them to its Fintech and Innovation Department for the necessary action.
