The government has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Ghana’s pharmaceutical manufacturing sector through innovation, strategic procurement and investment in quality systems.
Speaking at the Pharmaceutical Manufacturers Association of Ghana (PMAG) Day 2026, the Minister for Health, Hon. Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, encouraged local pharmaceutical companies to take advantage of available financing opportunities to expand their operations and improve production standards.
He said funding support from the Ghana EXIM Bank provides an opportunity for manufacturers to increase capacity, enhance quality and position themselves to compete effectively within Ghana, the sub-region and the global market.
Hon. Akandoh noted that building a strong local pharmaceutical industry remains a key priority for government, as it will help reduce dependence on imported medicines, create jobs and improve access to quality healthcare products.
He added that government will continue to collaborate with industry players to create an enabling environment for sustainable growth in the pharmaceutical sector.
