Ghanaian singer Jackline Acheampong, popularly known as Gyakie, has withdrawn from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) SRC Week celebrations, where she was scheduled to perform on Saturday, July 25, 2026.

The award-winning artiste announced her decision in a post on X, informing fans that she would no longer be taking the stage.

Although Gyakie did not disclose the specific reason behind her withdrawal, she hinted at dissatisfaction with how arrangements for the event had been handled by the organisers.

“Unfortunately, I’m not performing tonight. Hopefully, KNUST SRC acknowledges the hard work and gets things done the right way,” she wrote.

Her statement has since sparked widespread discussion on social media, with some users speculating that the withdrawal was linked to an alleged disagreement over payment.

According to unverified claims circulating online, the KNUST SRC expected the singer to perform without remuneration, an allegation that has not been officially confirmed by either Gyakie or the SRC.

As of the time of filing this report, the KNUST SRC had not publicly responded to the singer’s statement or the claims circulating on social media.
