Accra Hearts of Oak have officially appointed Serbian tactician Nebojsa Kapor as their new head coach on a two-year contract, following what the club described as an extensive recruitment process aimed at restoring the Phobians to domestic and continental prominence.
The appointment, announced by the club’s Board of Directors on Saturday, July 25, marks the beginning of what Hearts have termed “a new era: rebuilding with ambition.”
Kapor, a UEFA-licensed coach, is no stranger to Ghanaian football, having previously managed Tema Youth FC, Bechem United FC and Medeama SC. The club cited his tactical expertise, deep understanding of Ghanaian football and progressive coaching philosophy as key reasons behind his appointment.
According to the statement, Kapor is recognised for building competitive, attack-minded teams founded on discipline and youth development, qualities that align with the club’s long-term vision.
Hearts of Oak also revealed that Kapor’s appointment is the first of several technical appointments expected in the coming weeks as preparations intensify for the new Ghana Premier League season.
The club expressed confidence in the Serbian’s leadership and technical ability to usher in a new era of stability and success, while calling on supporters and the technical team to unite behind him in the quest to restore Hearts of Oak to the summit of Ghanaian and African football.
Kapor’s return to the Ghana Premier League comes with high expectations as the Phobians seek to reclaim their status among the country’s elite clubs.
