Parliament is expected to adjourn sine die on Friday, July 31, 2026, bringing the second meeting of the second session of the Ninth Parliament to a close.
The recess follows the presentation of the 2026 Mid-Year Budget Review by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.
During the meeting, lawmakers passed several key pieces of legislation, including the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill, popularly known as the anti-LGBTQ+ bill, which seeks to criminalise LGBTQ+ activities.
Parliament also approved the Tribunals Bill, which seeks to establish Regional and District Tribunals to help reduce case backlogs in the courts.
Other major legislation passed includes the National Defence University Ghana Bill and the Community Service Bill, which introduces community service as an alternative to custodial sentences for persons convicted of specified categories of offences.
