Rev. Maxwell Buddie has called on pastors and church leaders to exercise wisdom and uphold healthy boundaries when interacting with members of their congregations, particularly during visits to their homes. He stressed that no pastor should accept treatment that undermines the honour, respect, or position of a husband within his own household.
Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nyansapo Fie, hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, on the topic “Managing an Over-Pampered Person,” Rev. Buddie said that while pastors are called to shepherd, guide, and counsel their congregants, they must never allow themselves to receive honour that rightfully belongs to a husband.
He explained that there are instances where some wives, out of reverence for a man of God, may offer him a more comfortable seat, greater attention, or preferential treatment over their husbands. According to him, such situations should be handled with discernment and humility.
Rev. Buddie advised that whenever this occurs, a pastor should graciously decline the special treatment and encourage the wife to accord her husband the honour and respect he deserves first. He emphasized that the privileges, care, and recognition meant for a husband should never be transferred to a visiting minister or any other guest.
He concluded by urging both pastors and church members to uphold respect, humility, and strong family values. Maintaining appropriate boundaries, he noted, strengthens marriages, fosters peace in the home, and reflects the biblical principles that should guide every Christian family.
