President John Mahama has taken a light-hearted swipe at Black Stars players over their apparent inability to sing Ghana’s national anthem during international matches.
Speaking about the team’s participation at the World Cup, President Mahama noted that while players from other countries proudly sang their national anthems, some Ghanaian players appeared unable to do the same.
“During the World Cup, our players couldn’t sing the national anthem, while players from other countries sang with pride. If you cannot sing the anthem, you cannot be in the team,” he remarked jokingly.
The President’s comments have since sparked discussions about patriotism and national pride among players representing Ghana on the international stage.
