The Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has dismissed claims that the Sports Ministry sponsored Members of Parliament, government ministers or constituency executives to attend the ongoing FIFA World Cup.
According to the Minister, the Ministry did not use public funds to facilitate the travel of any MP, minister or constituency executive to the tournament.
His clarification comes amid public speculation and criticism over the alleged use of state resources to sponsor government officials to the World Cup.
Kofi Adams stressed that no such arrangements were made by the Sports Ministry, insisting that any public official present at the tournament did not travel at the Ministry’s expense.
The Minister’s remarks are expected to address growing concerns over accountability and the use of public funds, as discussions continue over Ghana’s participation and official representation at the global football showpiece.
