The Ghana Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC) will on Friday, June 26, 2026, commemorate the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking with a national event aimed at raising awareness about the growing challenges posed by drug abuse and illicit drug trade.
The programme, scheduled to take place at the Kofi Ohene-Konadu Auditorium of the University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA), will be held under the theme: “The World Drug Problem: Persisting Issues, New Challenges, Innovative Responses.”
The event is expected to bring together government officials, security agencies, policymakers, civil society organisations, students, and other stakeholders to discuss strategies for addressing emerging drug-related threats and strengthening prevention efforts.
Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, will serve as the Guest of Honour, while the Director-General of NACOC, Brigadier General Maxwell Obuba Mantey, will host the programme.
The annual observance forms part of global efforts to promote action and cooperation in achieving a world free from drug abuse and illicit trafficking. Organisers say this year’s event will focus on innovative approaches to tackling the evolving nature of the global drug problem.
The programme is expected to commence promptly at 10:00 a.m. at the UPSA auditorium.
