KMA reintroduces ‘Samansaman’ sanitation enforcement system from July 1

KMA reintroduces ‘Samansaman’ sanitation enforcement system from July 1
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced the reintroduction of its sanitation enforcement initiative, dubbed the “Enhanced Samansaman System,” as part of efforts to improve environmental cleanliness across the metropolis.

In a statement issued on June 8, 2026, the Assembly said the initiative will take effect from July 1, 2026. Under the system, a special sanitation task force made up of environmental health officers, military personnel and police officers will be deployed to selected communities to enforce environmental sanitation laws and bye-laws.

According to the Assembly, the task force will operate on every working day between 8:00 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. to ensure compliance with sanitation regulations. Individuals found violating the laws will be arrested and prosecuted before the courts.

The KMA said the move forms part of renewed efforts to address sanitation challenges and promote a cleaner environment within the city.

Meanwhile, the Assembly has announced that the next Sanitation Day exercise will be held on July 1, 2026, in the Abrepo Electoral Area. The clean-up exercise will be led by the Assembly Member for the area.

The Assembly has therefore urged residents to keep their surroundings clean and support efforts aimed at improving sanitation conditions in Kumasi.
