Cambodian Immigration Authorities deny reports ordering Africans to leave country

Cambodian Immigration Authorities deny reports ordering Africans to leave country
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The General Department of Immigration under Cambodia’s Ministry of Interior has dismissed reports claiming that Africans with expired immigration waivers have been ordered to leave the country by May 31, 2026.

In a press clarification issued on May 29, 2026, the Cambodian immigration authorities described the reports published by some websites as “completely untrue.”

According to the statement, the department observed that certain websites, including Campaigner Online and News Ghana, had published information alleging that Cambodia had ordered Africans with expired immigration waivers to leave the country or face possible sanctions.

However, the General Department of Immigration clarified that no such directive had been issued by the Kingdom of Cambodia.

The department urged both national and international audiences to rely solely on official communication channels for accurate information regarding immigration matters.

Authorities also advised the public to visit the official website of Cambodia’s General Department of Immigration or contact the department directly through its hotline for verified information.

The clarification comes amid growing concerns and discussions on social media regarding the alleged immigration directive targeting African nationals residing in Cambodia.
