Parents advised to prioritise care and environment when choosing schools

ADR practitioner Mary Bright Coffie, has urged parents to pay closer attention to the environments in which they place their children, warning that many behavioural problems among students are linked to neglect and poor institutional care.

Speaking on Plan B FM’s Nyansapo Fie hosted by Akosua Gyamfua, Aunty May described some student behaviours as deeply worrying but argued that such actions often reflect the culture and atmosphere of their schools.

According to her, the condition and attitude within a school can reveal how caring and responsible the institution truly is toward children.

“The school’s surroundings tell you how caring the institution truly is,” she stated.

She cautioned parents against selecting schools simply because they are affordable or close to home, stressing the need for proper investigations before enrollment.

“Don’t choose a school just because it’s close or cheap. Observe, ask tough questions, and inspect before enrolling your child,” she advised.

Aunty May further called on parents to become more intentional in monitoring their children’s educational environments, insisting that care, discipline, and emotional support are just as important as academic performance.

The discussion formed part of a wider conversation on dealing with uncaring attitudes in society.
