The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has revoked the mining leases of Adamus Resources Limited following confirmed breaches of Ghana’s mining laws, including involvement in illegal mining activities.
In a statement issued on April 26, 2026, the Ministry said the affected concessions, Akango, Salman and Nkroful were found to have been used for unauthorised operations, based on investigation reports by the Minerals Commission. The findings established multiple violations of the Minerals and Mining Act, 2006 (Act 703), and related regulations.
According to the report, Adamus Resources unlawfully subcontracted mining operations without the required ministerial approval. The company also carried out activities without approved operating plans or permits from the Chief Inspector of Mines. Additionally, it failed to secure necessary clearances from regulatory bodies, including the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
The investigations further revealed that foreign nationals were illegally engaged in “galamsey” activities on the concessions, in contravention of Ghana’s mining laws. Operations on the sites were described as substandard and conducted outside designated mining zones, raising serious environmental concerns.
Authorities noted that the illegal activities caused significant environmental damage, including land degradation and risks to water bodies, public health, and local livelihoods.
Citing the severity and deliberate nature of the breaches, the Minister acting on the advice of the Minerals Commission ordered the immediate revocation of the company’s mineral rights in the public interest.
The Ministry clarified that the revocation does not preclude possible criminal proceedings against Adamus Resources, its directors, or management.
It also assured that measures would be introduced to protect the jobs and livelihoods of workers affected by the decision, while reaffirming the government’s commitment to combating illegal mining and safeguarding the country’s natural resources.
