The Mayor of Tema, Ebi Bright, has commissioned the newly renovated Tema Metropolitan Assembly (TMA) Day Care School—transforming a site once associated with a tragic aircraft incident into a symbol of renewal and hope.
The refurbishment forms part of the Assembly’s broader efforts to strengthen early childhood education by providing a safe, modern, and child-friendly learning environment.

Addressing attendees at the ceremony, Mayor Bright paid tribute to those who lost their lives in the incident, describing their actions as selfless and instrumental in saving others. She stressed the importance of preserving their memory, noting that their sacrifice should continue to inspire the community.
She further explained that redeveloping the site was a deliberate step toward helping both children and residents move beyond the painful memories linked to the tragedy. According to her, reimagining the space as a vibrant educational facility is key to fostering healing while promoting a positive atmosphere for learning.
The event was attended by the Abusuapanyin (family head) of the victims, who expressed gratitude to the Assembly for honouring their loved ones and supporting the community through this initiative.
The upgraded facility now boasts improved classrooms, enhanced sanitation, and strengthened safety features, creating a more conducive environment for both teaching and learning.
Residents and key stakeholders have welcomed the project, describing it as not only a developmental milestone but also a meaningful step toward healing and progress within the Tema community.
